A POLL-DION
Duration: One hour
Performance at St Augustine's Tower
2018
APOLL-DION is a performative-investigation through a range of broad actions between the two spirits of the methodical Apollonian and the hedonistic Dionysian, in the space of two squares created from gaffer tape.
Mirror
Duration: 5 minutes performed intermittently every half-hour between 19:00 - 22:00
Performance at SPACE (Mare street)
2018
Mirror is a re-enactment of the notion of clapping taking its structure and form of sitting and standing directly from the viewer's relationship to the spectacle in the context of theatre and performance. The work functions as a social critique of why, when and how long do we clap for.
Mirror psychologically displaces the expected behaviour from the viewer-performance-artist by taking the action of the viewer at the end of a performance - what occurs afterwards is an open ended proposition to the viewer to applaud or not.
Clapping as a form of communicating truth in the disguise of appreciation, validation and applause is why this work was created.
ENDURANCE
Duration: 9 minutes
Performance at Hundred Years Gallery
2018
On a wall projected with the colour red, I balanced on one leg with a plastic strap constricting my knee and foot in one position until my body fatigued and collapsed.
The performance was accompanied by live oratory dialogue looped, inevitably becoming incongruous and physically strained to the point where the larynx follows the form of the body.
Dialogue excerpt:
"It is hard
you endure.
Endurance.
It is tired
you endure and
I endure,
cool, everyone endures,
So what?"
